Biography

Fabrice Grimard, born in Quebec, 2001, is a classically trained painter devoted to the enduring disciplines of painting and drawing. His artistic formation began at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, where he completed two foundational years of study, before continuing at the Grand Central Atelier founded by Jacob Collins in New York. There, he completed the atelier’s rigorous four-year program, centered on academic draftsmanship and the principles of classical realism. During his time at the Grand Central Atelier, Fabrice was awarded a scholarship each year in recognition of his commitment and skill. He also won the institution’s coveted Structure Prize directed by Colleen Barry on four occasions, a distinction awarded for exceptional achievement in figure drawing. Following his studies at GCA, Fabrice spent two months in Norway studying under the renowned painter Odd Nerdrum, further deepening his understanding of composition and narrative in painting. He then returned to Montreal where he now reside. ​In 2026, Fabrice won the small work acquisition award at the New Salem Museum. Fabrice’s work reflects a search for beauty rooted in technical mastery and control. His paintings are shaped by close observation of nature, and a philosophical commitment to beauty as truth made visible.

In 2026, Fabrice co-founded the Atelier de Peinture Bonnaud Grimard with Florentine Bonnaud.
